Clean Air Mingle (2018)

Our first Clean Air Mingle was held on December 1 at Dillions Coffee, Waterstones Bookshop on Gower Street, London. Dr Gary Fuller, author of The Invisible Killer - The Rising Global Threat of Air Pollution — And How We Can Fight Back and columist for the Guardian's Pollution Watch joined us to sign copies of his book.

There was a particularly good turn-out from residents in the London borough of Greenwich who'd just won a campaign to stop a cruise liner terminal being built on the banks of the river Thames near their homes. The moored-up ships would have produced an enourmous amount of air polltuion as they use onboard generators to produce power. While they can take power from the shore, no suitable cabling existed for it and there was no legal requirement for the developers to provide it nor a requirement that ships use it!
